Zanker Road Resource Recovery Operations & Landfill

Zanker Road Resource Management began operations of the Zanker Road Landfill in 1985 with only five (5) years of landfill capacity remaining; however, because of the ingenuity and foresight of Zanker’s owners, the landfill is still in operation 26 years later. As one of the most advanced Construction and Demolition (C&D) recycling operations in the United States, the facility continually enhancing its purpose and operations and is currently transitioning from old landfill and recycling facility to a new model for the recycling industry. Our newly constructed demolition recycling operation is the most advanced operation in the United States thats processes demolition debris. Operations at the facility include a new electric wood waste processing area that has eliminated the use of old diesel powered equipment, yard wastes and asphalt shingles, a concrete recycling operation that processes concrete, brick, asphalt and toilets, secondary recycling operations for mulch colorization and our recycled materials yard where customers can purchase recycled hardscape and landscape products.

Zero Waste Energy Development Co. Anaerobic Digestion Facility

With the goal of taking organics recovery to the next level and capturing the energy value of food discards, GreenWaste and Zanker formed a new company, Zero Waste Energy Development Company. As a member company of Zero Waste Energy (the exclusive licensee of the SmartFerm and Kompoferm technology), ZWEDC is the first commercial scale dry fermentation anaerobic digestion facility in the US. The facility processes up to 90,000 tons per year of organic waste, generating approximately 1.6KW of clean green renewable power and is the largest facility of its kind in the world. As a net power producer, the first use of power is to run the facility, with the excess on peak power being used by the adjacent Zanker facility to run its resource recovery operations and the excess off peak power being sold back to the grid.

    Zanker Materials Processing Facility

Known formerly as the Owens Corning Fiberglass Landfill, it took more than eight (8) years to complete the extensive permitting process for the Zanker Material Processing Facility (ZMPF) and operations began in June of 1999. ZMPF focus is on Construction & Demolition Debris recycling. The C&D Sorting Line processes an extensive amount of construction and mixed debris through a sorting conveyor system that utilizes a series of screens, magnets, air separation equipment and conveyors to remove up to 16 different marketable products from the typical C&D/mixed waste stream. This system is capable of sorting 60 tons per hour with an average 75% diversion rate making it one of the most effective operations in the United States. The tour would also include our  Shredder Processing Operation which reprocesses all residuals from the other operations and produces ADC and sortable commodities and Zanker’s newest development in sorting operations, the Advance C&D Processing system which will process 155,000 tons per year utilizing AI and robotics.
