The SMaRT (Sunnyvale Materials Recovery and Transfer) Station in Sunnyvale is a regional recycling and waste management facility. It serves the cities of Sunnyvale and Mountain View, offering services for residential and commercial waste, recycling and composting. Its food scraps recycling program processes food scraps into a mash that generates electricity at water pollution plants in the Bay Area through anaerobic digestion. The facility plays a key role in diverting waste from landfills, with a focus on sustainability and resource recovery. The SMaRT Station also includes educational programs and tours to promote environmental awareness and responsible waste disposal practices. It's operated by the City of Sunnyvale and focuses on efficient waste management and recycling technologies. Directions
